Hello Wick

Privacy Policy.

Last updated 17 October 2026

We collect what we need to make your order and run the family page. Family pages and the tap page carry no ads, pixels or trackers.

Who we are

Hello Wick is run by Makers Media LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company. We decide how the information below is used. Questions go to support@hellowick.com.

What we collect when you order

  • Your name, email address and the shipping address (or addresses) you give us.
  • What goes on each candle: the names, words, lid engraving and picture, plus a gift note if you write one.
  • What you bought and what you paid.
  • Your answer to “How did you hear about us?”, if you give one.
  • The campaign tags in the link you arrived on (UTM tags) and the website that sent you, saved on your device from your first visit and sent with your order.

Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

The photos you upload

A photo you put on a label is used only to make that order: to print its label, to paint its watercolour proof when you choose that, and to show you the proof and the page.

When you choose “Paint it in watercolour”, that photo is sent to OpenAI’s image model to paint the proof. We only do this for the photos you ask us to paint. Photo labels you don’t ask us to paint are never sent to OpenAI.

We never use your photos in advertising without your written permission.

Family pages

Family members who sign in can add photos, voice notes, video links and notes. We store what they add, the name they post under, and each member’s name and email address. Members sign in with a code we email them: there is no password to store.

Anyone with the page’s link, or a tap of its Hello tag, can see what’s on it (except hidden posts) and the name beside each post. The page owner can also see members’ email addresses. More in Family pages.

The Hello tag and taps

The Hello tag under the label is a small contactless chip, like the ones in tap-to-pay cards. It holds only a short link (hellowick.com/t/ and a serial number), and no personal information.

When a Hello tag is tapped we log the time, which tag, how the page was opened (the Hello tag, the QR code or a link) and whether it counted as the recipient’s tap (a family member’s own phone or our packing check doesn’t count). We use this to tell the giver about the first tap and how many times the page has been opened from the candle. We don’t record location.

Email

Service email is about your order or a page you belong to: the confirmation and private link, proofs, shipping, delivery, invites, refunds, and “someone posted” or “they just tapped”. You get these whatever your marketing choice.

If you ask us to email you something, such as your saved candle or a $10 code, we send it. Those emails carry an unsubscribe link.

Marketing email (order-by dates, new labels, gift ideas) only goes to people who ticked the box asking for it. The box is never pre-ticked, and adding a photo to a page is not a yes. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe, which never touches your access to a page.

Cookies, pixels and ad platforms

On our shop pages (not family pages, not the tap page) we use these tags to measure our ads and to show our ads to people who might like them:

  • Meta Pixel, and Meta’s Conversions API: for a purchase and other shopping steps (such as adding to the bag or starting checkout), our server also sends Meta your email address in hashed form, your IP address, your browser’s user agent, Meta’s cookie IDs (_fbp, _fbc) and an event ID that stops the same event counting twice, along with the event itself (for example, a purchase and its total). This only happens where your choice allows it.
  • TikTok Pixel.
  • Google Analytics 4 and the Google tag.
  • Pinterest tag.

How they load depends on where you are. US visitors: they load by default, and you can turn them off any time with Your privacy choices. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as that opt-out. Visitors in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland: no marketing tag loads until you tap Accept.

Family pages, the tap page and the magnet’s page carry no advertising pixel, analytics tag or third-party tracker, wherever you are. Each cookie is listed in our Cookie Policy.

Who we share it with

We use these companies to run Hello Wick. Each gets only what it needs for its job:

  • Stripe: payments.
  • Convex: our database and file storage (orders, labels, family pages).
  • Vercel: hosting the website.
  • WorkOS: signing in to family pages with an emailed code.
  • Resend: sending our email.
  • EasyPost: shipping labels. Names and addresses go to the carrier (such as USPS) to deliver your parcel.
  • OpenAI: only when a buyer chooses “Paint it in watercolour”, to paint the proof from the uploaded photo.
  • Meta, TikTok, Google and Pinterest: through the tags above, where your choice allows.

We don’t sell personal information for money. But some US state privacy laws treat letting ad platforms collect information through pixels as “sharing” or “targeted advertising”. Your privacy choices, and Global Privacy Control, turn that off.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people from harm or fraud, or if the business is sold (in which case this policy still applies to it).

How long we keep it

  • Orders (including the label picture, the proof and the address): for as long as we need them to make, ship and stand behind the order, and to keep the business and tax records the law requires.
  • Family page posts: until the person who posted them or the page owner deletes them, or until the page is retired (see Family pages). Deleting a post deletes its photo or recording too.
  • Marketing choices: we keep a record of each yes or no (when, where and the wording you saw), because we need to be able to show we had your permission.
  • Tap logs: as long as the page exists.

Our hosting and email providers keep their own short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and troubleshooting.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time at support@hellowick.com. We will, except for what we have to keep by law (such as order and payment records).

Children

Hello Wick is for adults. Signing in to add to a page is for adults; children post through a parent. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, tell us and we’ll delete it.

Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can opt out of targeted advertising. Email support@hellowick.com. We may need to confirm it’s you, usually by emailing the address on the order. We answer within 45 days.

If we say no to any part of a request, we’ll explain why, and you can reply asking us to look again.

Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Ad tags: Your privacy choices.

Keeping it safe

Family page links are long and random, pages are hidden from search engines, and members sign in with a code we email them. Payment details stay with Stripe. No system is perfectly secure; if something happens that affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.

Visiting from outside the US

We only ship within the US this season. Our providers store information in the US. If you visit from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, no marketing tag loads until you accept, and you can change your mind at any time.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we’ll tell customers by email first.
